Quote from Dug Down Deep

What kind of stories would we have to tell in heaven if God just showed up and made everybody believe?

Imagine those conversations.

“So when did God save you?”

“Oh it was the year he came out and turned Christopher Hitchens into a turtle.”

“Snapping turtle, wasn’t it?”

“Oh, right. That was clever. Yep, that’s when I believed.”

That’s not a conversation that leads to worship. That’s not a story that makes you shake your head in amazement. God is too great a storyteller to settle for something so plain.

Instead he’s chosen to write a story in human history that will, at the end of time, leave the universe speechless.
